About Joseph Ryder

I currently work as a Police Officer and in my previous life worked as a radio reporter with the NPR affiliate station WSHU and Fox News Radio and Headlines 24/7.

My work has aired on WSHU Public Radio and in print in The Stony Brook Press. At Fox News Headlines 24/7 I've helped produce nationally aired news broadcasts, write stories for air and assist in sound gathering and audio editing.

I've done extensive political reporting, especially the 2016 presidential election which I helped cover with WSHU. I'm used to working with tight deadlines where results matter. I'm an energetic self-starter with a passion for storytelling.

I'm an alum of Stony Brook University where I graduated in 2016 with a degree in journalism with a concentration in public policy.

I’m also a director of Law Enforcement Officers Weekend, a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit. We work with the families of Police Officers killed in the line of duty.

As a photographer I've shot Major League Baseball and NCAA division one football, lacrosse and basketball. I've photographed musical acts such as J. Cole, Fetty Wap, R.L. Grime, and Walk the Moon.

I'm always looking for new and interesting opportunities to tell under reported and human stories. I also dabble in filmmaking, video production and audio engineering.

If you have a project you think that I'd be able to assist with don't hesitate to reach out.
